Why MigrateData

Enterprise migration, done right.

Bidirectional across every collaboration surface with permissions preserved both ways, SaaS or on-prem, idempotent by design, and purpose-built for enterprise IT that needs the migration to just work.

Six differentiators

What makes MigrateData different

Not another migration tool. A rethink of what enterprise migration should look like — bidirectional through and through, idempotent, self-serve when things go sideways.

Bidirectional across every data type

25 migration paths across 5 platforms — every data type flows either direction, plus same-platform tenant-to-tenant for M&A. Format conversion (Office ↔ Google, HTML ↔ text, calendar recurrences) handled transparently. Most tools ship one-way pairs and charge extra for reverse.

Permissions preserved both directions

Sharing on files, shared drive membership, group memberships, calendar visibility, mailbox delegates and send-as — all carry over. Users land in the destination with the same access they had in the source. Legacy tools drop or partially map permissions, forcing manual re-assignment.

Zero duplicates on re-run

Two-tier duplicate prevention on every data type: DB-level cross-job check (zero API cost) + platform-API search per migrator. Re-run any migration safely — the engine skips what already landed and only processes what's missing. Legacy tools duplicate everything on re-run.

Delta sync + auto-cutover

Continuous sync between source and destination during your coexistence period. Cutover mode auto-stops after your DNS-propagation window — no panic weekend cutover, no manual off-switch. Legacy tools do one-shot migration or manual delta management.

Reconciliation + selective re-migration

Three verification modes post-migration (basic, detailed, full). Discrepancies get one-click selective re-migration — no full re-run needed. You get certainty, not hope. Legacy tools rely on manual spot-checks and spreadsheet reconciliation.

SaaS or on-prem — zero-retention either way

Same platform, either deployment. On-prem agent runs the migration inside your network. Either way, source → destination through encrypted streaming — files, emails, and messages never land on our disks. Regulated orgs get the same features as SaaS, not a stripped-down variant.

AI throughout the migration lifecycle

AI at every stage — not a bolted-on chatbot.

Purpose-built intelligence woven through discovery, execution, and post-migration reconciliation. What competitors call “AI” is usually a doc chatbot; ours is real workflow depth.

Pre-migration risk analysis

Scans both environments before you start; flags incompatibilities, blockers, and permission drift with plain-English fixes.

Smart error interpretation

Translates raw platform errors into cause + recommended action so operators don’t need to grep Stack Overflow.

Cross-platform permission mapping

Automatic mapping of source ACLs to destination equivalents with confidence scores.

Natural-language migration queries

Ask “which users failed calendar migration last night?” in plain English — no SQL, no filter chains.

Sensitive content detection

Flags PII, PHI, and ITAR before migration so compliance teams can decide what stays put.

AI-generated executive reports

Post-migration summaries written for the CIO, not the operator — outcomes, exceptions, next steps.

Permissions carry over

Users land with the same access they had.

Migration isn’t just data movement — it’s access continuity. Every collaboration surface’s permissions transfer both directions, so users pick up where they left off with zero help-desk tickets on day 1.

File sharing

Google Drive share links, M365 file/folder permissions, Box collaborations, Dropbox shared folder access, ShareFile permissions. Collaborator roles mapped (viewer / commenter / editor ↔ read / write / owner).

Shared drive membership

Google Shared Drives ↔ M365 SharePoint sites. Member lists preserved; role assignments translated (manager / content manager / contributor / commenter / viewer ↔ owner / edit / read).

Group memberships

Google Groups ↔ M365 groups (security, distribution, M365, dynamic). Nested groups flattened where needed. Membership lists preserved both directions.

Calendar visibility

Free/busy vs full-detail sharing settings, delegate access, per-calendar sharing rules — translated between Google Calendar and Microsoft Exchange.

Mailbox delegates + send-as

Full mailbox delegates, "send on behalf" permissions, and folder-level access carried over between Google Workspace and Exchange. No help-desk tickets on day 1.

AI Permission Mapper handles the edges

Where source and destination don't have a 1:1 equivalent (e.g. Google's fine-grained sharing options), AI proposes the closest destination mapping with a confidence score. Admin reviews before commit.

What moves between which platforms

The full picture. Google Workspace and Microsoft 365 are the flagship pair with all 13 data types. Files and shared drives migrate in every combination among all five platforms — including permissions.

12 data types move both directions with full parity. Exchange Public Folders is one-way Microsoft → Google (Public Folders is an Exchange-specific concept — Google Workspace has no equivalent to migrate from).
