Reconciliation

What Is Reconciliation?

Reconciliation verifies that every item from the source platform was successfully migrated to the destination. It identifies discrepancies and enables selective re-migration.

Three Modes

Basic Mode

Compares MigrateData's internal database records. Instant (no API calls). Checks item counts per user per data type. Best for quick verification after migration.

Detailed Mode

Verifies each item exists on the destination via API. Takes minutes (one API call per item). Checks item existence by source ID. Best for standard post-migration verification.

Full Mode

Compares item sizes and names between source and destination. Slower (API calls to both platforms). Uses size comparison (>10% and >1KB threshold) and name comparison (format-conversion-aware). Best for thorough verification for compliance or high-stakes migrations.

Running Reconciliation

  1. Go to your migration job → Reconciliation tab
  2. Select the mode (Basic, Detailed, or Full)
  3. Click Run Reconciliation
  4. Review the results

Understanding Results

Results show total items checked, matching items (present and verified on destination), and discrepancies (items with issues). Each discrepancy includes user email, item type, item name, issue description, and severity.

Re-Migration

For any discrepancies, review the details, click Re-migrate on individual items or select multiple, and MigrateData will re-attempt migration for those specific items.

Export

Export reconciliation results to CSV for compliance documentation or team review.
