Troubleshooting
OAuth Connection Issues
Token expired or Invalid grant
Your OAuth token has expired and couldn't be refreshed. Go to Settings → Connections, disconnect the affected platform, and reconnect with fresh OAuth consent.
Insufficient permissions
The OAuth consent didn't include all required scopes. Disconnect and reconnect, making sure to approve all requested permissions. For Microsoft 365, ensure you click "Consent on behalf of your organization."
Admin consent required
Microsoft 365 requires a Global Admin to grant consent for the organization. Sign in with a Global Admin account when connecting Microsoft 365.
Migration Errors
Rate limit exceeded
Too many API calls to the source or destination platform. MigrateData automatically retries with exponential backoff — no action needed. To reduce rate limits, lower the concurrent job count.
Item too large
A file exceeds the destination platform's size limit. These items are logged as failed with the specific size limit. You may need to handle them manually.
Format conversion failed
A Google Docs/Sheets/Slides file couldn't be converted to Office format (or vice versa). These are typically complex documents with unsupported features. The original format file is still migrated.
Duplicate skipped
The item already exists on the destination (detected by two-tier dedup). This is expected behavior when re-running a migration. The item appears in the "Skipped" section.
Performance Issues
Migration is slow
Check your internet connection speed, reduce the number of concurrent migration jobs, and verify platform-specific rate limits (Google: 10 QPS, Microsoft: varies).
WebSocket not updating
Refresh the browser page. Verify that no corporate proxy is blocking WebSocket connections (wss://).
Common Questions
Can I migrate again without creating duplicates?
Yes. Two-tier duplicate prevention is enabled by default. Re-running a migration will skip all previously migrated items.
What happens if I cancel a migration?
Cancellation stops processing new items. Already-migrated items remain on the destination. You can create a new migration to continue from where you left off.
How do I migrate shared mailboxes?
Select "Shared Mailboxes" as a resource type in Step 4 of the migration wizard. Upload a CSV or use auto-discover.
