Migration

Phased Migration Rollouts

Why Use Phased Rollouts?

For organizations with 100+ users, migrating everyone at once is risky. Phased rollouts let you start with IT/pilot users to validate the process, migrate VIP executives with extra care, roll out department by department, and control the pace of change management.

Each migration job is a self-contained phase — with its own user list, progress tracking, and statistics.

Creating a Phase

  1. Go to Migrations → New Migration
  2. Select your source and destination connections
  3. Choose the data types for this phase
  4. In the Resources step, select the specific users for this phase

Selecting Users Per Phase

CSV Upload

Upload a CSV file with specific user emails. This is ideal for planned rollouts where IT has a list of users for each phase.

Auto-Discover

Run a discovery scan to see all available users, then select the ones for this phase.

Discovery Scan Pre-Population

Start a migration from a discovery scan result — the wizard pre-populates with the scanned users, and you can filter down to the subset you want.

Running Phases

Create and run each phase as a separate migration job. You can:

  • Run multiple phases concurrently or sequentially
  • Track each phase's progress independently on the dashboard
  • Run reconciliation after each phase to verify before proceeding
  • Set up delta sync on completed phases to keep early users current while later phases run

Best Practices

  • Phase 1: 5-10 IT team members — validate the process and identify issues
  • Phase 2: VIP executives — ensure critical users are handled smoothly
  • Phase 3+: Department phases — 200-500 users each via CSV upload
  • Run reconciliation after each phase before proceeding
  • Enable delta sync on Phase 1 so pilot users stay current throughout the rollout
